Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005
Section 1
This section states that the purpose of the GLP is to give effect, as far as is appropriate and reasonably practical, to the principle that in exercising their functions the public bodies should treat the Gaelic and English languages on a basis of equality. A similar basis of equality is also found in the Welsh Language Act 1993.
WHY USE BILINGUAL SIGNAGE?
Section 1 of the Bill establishes a basis of equality between the Gaelic and English languages.
